Who Francis Bacon was
Francis Bacon was the Irish-born British painter whose distorted, screaming figures and smeared portraits made him one of the most unflinching artists of the twentieth century. His work refused to flatter; it exposed.

Instead of a quote, Castet turned Bacon's whole project into the collection's final, sharpest question: if everything curated and protective suddenly fell away, would you still recognize the person underneath?
